Ministry of health pays $620,000 for young girl's Transverse Myelitis Treatment

Here is a promising story for a young girl, who will receive treatment for her Transverse Myelitis at the Transverse Myelitis Cetner in John Hopkins Hospital, one of the leading centers for Transverse Myelitis research in the world. Most people cannot afford treatment at this center, and the chances of obtaining free treatment is slim.
And so, the Minister of Health has funded young ten-year-old Christa Brumant to the tune of $620,000 to be treated at the Transverse Myelitis Centre in Johns Hopkins Hospital for the unfortunate inflammation of her spinal cord. I sincerely wish her the best but about that after she returns.

Insurance Policy coverage and Transverse Myelitis
This is an interesting article about a man who has Transverse Myelitis and had to take the insurance company to court because they did not want to pay for his medical expenses.
Gibbens claimed compensation under his group insurance policy (the 'Policy'), which provided compensation for losses "as a direct result of a Critical Disease [defined in the Policy, but not including herpes or transverse myelitis], or resulting directly and independently of all other causes from bodily injuries occasioned solely through external, violent and accidental means, without negligence." A successful claim under the Policy would have obligated the insurer, Co-operators Life Insurance Company ("Co-operators"), to pay Gibbens $200,000. Cooperators denied coverage under the Policy.

10 Year Old Boy Diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis

A 4th grader boy, named Landon, was diagnosed with transverse myelitis. The boy lives in Heath, Texas. Over a span of weeks, he became paralyzed from the chest down. After two months of rehabilitation, Landon is still depending on a wheelchair and a walker, but there is hope that he will walk on his own one day.

Woman compensated 1 million for misdiagnosis

A mother of four was misdiagnosed with shingles when she actually had Transverse Myelitis. The devastating spinal inflammation left her a paraplegic. Even after a rush MRI was ordered, the MRI did not happen in time for the correct diagnosis and treatment to occur.
The court case lasted approximately 10 years, ending in compensation of 1 million dollars.
